Plunger rod had worn and mushroomed making it impossible to remove just the rod.
In addition a stripped screw head on the plunger bracket made it difficult to remove the assembly. I tried a hacksaw and also the impact Philips driver on the stripped screw without success. The stripping is probably because it is difficult to access the screw without removing the flipper leaf switches.
Ultimately I removed the assembly by using a Dremel cutoff wheel to cut a new slot AND adding WD40 with some resting time.
We had a new plunger assembly available but on installation I found it had some bad threads. I used the tap and die kit to clean them up.
We lacked a machine screw to replace the stripped one. Philips was a foolish head to use in that inaccessible position anyway so I stole a hex/slot head 10/24 screw from the workshop Aztec plunger.
I was getting a 7v reading on both lugs of one of the effected lights which made me think at least part of the gi up the left side of the machine wasnt able to connect to ground. I jumped to the ground side of a known working light and the bulbs kicked on. Strangely, when i removed the jump the lights remained on. I jostled all the wires and bases for the lights in question and couldnt get them to go out again…. Marking closed for now.
Cleaned the blue Greed wheel because it was looking pretty dirty. I also replaced the four little rubbers on the posts attached to the wheel.
Per Kris and Deshawn:
checked about lower left general illumination corner and turns out the lower left section is getting ~1/6 of the power than the lower right section, so it may be an issue with the wires.
Fixed the “LITE 2 BEARS” light and socket connection under it, checked about lower left general illumination corner and turns out the lower left section is getting ~1/6 of the power than the lower right section, so it may be an issue with the wires.
Cleaned the very dirty topper inside and out. Lightning flasher bulbs were all good and also got wiped down.
Check and see if the lamps in the topper are working properly. It’s very hard to see the lightning effect.
Replaced all of these lamps.
The left slingshot and lower left lane lights are still not working. Lamps are new and tested so it’s not that.
Also replaced lots of bulbs in the backbox.
