With potential volunteer Tom Diehl, used Aztec to show him how it works. Reproduced perpetual reset, looks like player 1,2 and 3 resets continue to fire although scores do reset to zero, at least momentarily. Then certain ones spontaneously cycle past zero, see video.
Concur that specific score drum relays (3 or 4 out of 15) need investigation. Stared at circuit diagram and poked at relays but no real breakthrough.
This one involved 3 special guests. Jason, who repairs industrial EM gear for a living, and Jim and Gayle(?) who own some Gottlieb machines.
We noticed two problems: the machine won’t stop resetting scores, and the 100-point relay was locked on.
Jim and Gayle and I took a good look at the score reels. The player 2 100-point coil was toast, with a very melted coil sleeve. They removed it; I’ll order a replacement. The rest seemed fine at first glance.
Jason and I took a careful look at the and checked all of the switches that led to the 100-point section. It turned out that the change relay was wedged in a weird position, which was locking the 100-point switch on.
It still resets eternally. I think the next thing to check is the 0-position detection for all the reels.
Ryan and Jack, first-time volunteers, gave the playfield a very thorough cleaning and replaced all the bands.
No general illumination or other power, but power across main fuses
We cleaned contacts on coin door lights, they work
Cleaned and reseated jones plus, hot illumination and power working
Machine now stuck in reset loop when credit button pushed
Cleaned Player Wheel in backbox
Drew, Ken, Deshawn, William
cleaned the heck out of it
Status changed: Unknown → Fixing
Set it up, replaced fuses, plugged it in. Transformer outputs incorrect voltages even when not under load. New transformer ordered.
