Pulling the shaft into place using the nut and some large diameter fender washers worked well. There are also two special washers with half-flat centers that needed to be pressed on with the nut. We damaged one slightly in the process, and cleaned it up with a Dremel tool.

The chime grommets fit perfectly, and we re-mounted the score totalizer assembly. The wheel feels like it will turn nicely.

Still outstanding: remounting the leaf switch and solenoids, checking the wheel.
