This is normal behavior. The sound is the ball release being held open until it is sure the first ball is in play.
Mysterious buzzing noise at startup, persists for much longer than expected.
William explained that some noise is expected as part of the startup sequence as Derby Day tries to determine whether the game has started or not, but it seems to persist for a while, stopping only when one of the numbers at the top (1-4) are hit.
